Ramon D Baez

Ramon D. Baez, age 79, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Born April 4, 1944, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Irene Diaz who survives.  Ramon arrived in the States at the age of 19, a time of unrest in Detroit, and learned to speak English by watching movies and listening to the radio. He was a hardworking family man who enjoyed being outdoors, loved animals, and enjoyed horse racing. Ramon loved to entertain others, singing, dancing, and being the center of attention. He also never missed an opportunity to argue his point and politics.  Ramon was a former member of the Erie Riders Motorcycle Club where he loved riding his prized Harley. One of Ramon's favorite things was his 1988 Lincoln Continental with the blue suede interior.

Ramon will be missed by his wife, Rebecca Miniard Baez; mother, Irene Diaz; his children, Jonathan (Emily Lawson) Baez, Raymond Diaz, Carmen Diaz, Michael Spencer, and Michelle (John) Jackson; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Tony, Chet, Socorro, Virginia, and Carmen; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Seminary Street location.
