Ralph Douglas Malcomb

Ralph Douglas Malcomb, age 86, of Sylvania, OH and formerly of Owenton, passed away Friday, April5, 2013 at his home. Born March 29, 1927, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mattie Stafford Malcomb. Doug was an operating engineer for the former H.L. Crouse Company for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the International Union of Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 and the First Christian Church of Sylvania. He enjoyed working in his yard and was known for keeping his property immaculate. Doug also maintained strong ties to his birthplace and traveled here frequently to visit family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette; his grandson, Matthew Cygan and his brother George Malcomb. He is survived by his daughter Charla (Steve) Cygan; his granddaughter, Kristen (Jesse) Holt; his great grandson, Austin Holt and his brothers James and Harold Malcomb. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of local arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11am with burial in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Liberty Christian Church.
