Peggy Ann Wade

Ms. Peggy Ann Wade, age 83, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2012 at the St. Joseph Hospital. Born November 21, 1928, in Monterey, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Flora Ballard Johnson. Also preceding her in death were her sister Hazel Riley and her grandson Vince Edwards. Ms. Wade attended Eastern Kentucky University and early in her life worked for the Franklin County School Systems teaching at Second Street Elementary and Bellpoint Elementary. She retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Chief Finance Clerk in the Finance and Administration Cabinet in the Division of Engineering. She was also a member of the Midway Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Vince Edwards of Mandeville, LA, James Edwards of Naples, FL and Todd Wade of Lexington; her daughter, Mary (Paul) Rawlings of Midway; her sister, Jane Messer of Carbondale, CO; eight grandchildren, Michael, Jared and Joshua Edwards, Scott Spickard, Christina and TJ Wade and Zachary and Travis Rawlings. Two great grandchildren also survive. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, October 8, 2012, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm. Burial will be int he Monterey Cemetery with Rev. Herman Bowers presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midway Baptist Church.
