Omer Claxon, 83, of Monterey passed away Wednesday, July 21st, at his residence. Born June 12, 1927 in Monterey, he was the son of the late Charlie and Corrine Williams Claxon. Mr. Claxon was a farmer, an agriculture equipment dealer and a former chairman of the Owen County Agriculture Services Committee. He was also a member of Old Cedar Baptist Church. His wife Joyce Dempsey Claxon of Monterey; his son Lanny Claxon of Monterey and his grandson Abe Claxon survive him. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, July 23rd from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11am with Bro. James Bondurant and Bro. Everett Hawkins presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Cedar Baptist Church; Hospice of the Bluegrass or The Monterey Cemetery.
