Norma May Poe

Norma May Poe, 91, passed away Thursday Jan. 5, 2023 at her daughter's home. She was born in the Canby community of Owen County the daughter of the late Gusta and Martha Howard. She was also preceded by her husband Ralph Poe and ten siblings, Hershel, Horace, Floyd and Pat Howard, Eulah Howard, Rachel Chapman, Hazel Simpson, Helen Howard, Sylvia Perkins and Thelma Simpson. Norma was a homemaker and loved the life she had on the farm which included gardening, canning and cooking meals for the work crew. She was known for her mashed potatoes. You could see her walking to town from her home and never accepting a ride! She was a beloved "Meemaw" and loved the time she had with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Tom) Mings, a brother, J.D. (Lucille) Howard, four grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Mings, Kelsey (Jeremy) Hartlage, Carson Mings and David (Morgan) Palmer and her four great grandchildren, Emersyn, Hudson, Callie and Harrison.

Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 8 at Main Street. The funeral is Monday at 11AM also at Main Street with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will follow in the Owenton Cemetery and memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
