Norma C. Merriss

Norma C. Merriss, 84 years old, of New Liberty, passed away on November 27,2009, at New Horizons Health Center, Owenton, KY. Mrs. Merriss was born March 29, 1925 in Grant County, KY, to the late Curtis and Gladys Jackson. She married James Frances Merriss on June 20, 1942. They resided in Covington, Ky for several years before moving to Evansville, IN. in 1959. Upon Frank's retirement in 1977 they moved to New Liberty, KY where they lived until their deaths. She was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Perry Park. Survivors include 6 children: 2 daughters, Joyce Rutledge and Patricia Beckham, both of New Liberty, KY: and 4 sons and 3 daughter-in-laws, James (Linda) Merriss of Marietta, GA,: Richard Merriss of Evansville, IN,: Kenneth (Debra) Merriss of Panama City, FL and Jeffery(Anita) Merriss of Los Angeles, CA.: 17 grandchildren and 19 great grand children. One brother, James (Liddie) Jackson of New Liberty, KY and sister Margaret Bishop of Owenton, also survive In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James (Frank) Merriss of New Liberty, KY, a brother, Paul Jackson and sister, Florene Bishop and great-grand daughter Sophie Gracelynn Lewis Family will receive friends at the Main Street funeral home, on Sunday, November 29th from 3-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, November 30th at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Witzemann officiating.
