Nellie Surber Gilley

Mrs. Nellie Surber Gilley, age 92, of Owenton, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 31, 2016 surrounded by her family. Born August 11, 1923, in Elwood, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Beecher and Gail Good Adams. Nellie was preceded in death by her three husbands, Glen Robertson, Robert Surber and Robert Gilley. Also preceding her were her sons, Glen and Pat Robertson, Joe Adams and Robert "Bobby" Surber and her siblings, Joe, Ferrell and George Adams and Ruth Robertson. Mrs. Gilley was a retired punch press operator for General Motors, Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana. Surviving are her daughter, Marna (Art Miller) Surber; her step-son, John Gilley; her grandchildren, Joe and Angela Adams, Mariah Steger, Jama Hood, Cary and Clint Robertson and her great grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Olivia and Cami Adams, Lilyann Steger, Gracie and Macy Hood, Anna, Austin, Madison Robertson and Katelyn Bates. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be int eh Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the charity of one's choosing.
