Nancy Jean Driend

Nancy Jean Driend, age 72, of Owenton passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

Born October 23, 1946 in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Kathleen Pahler Chaychis. Nancy was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and was a Eucharist Minister.  She spent years volunteering and offering community services.  She taught ceramics and helped with Samaritan's Purse and was an avid animal lover.

She is survived by Bill Smerekanicz; her son Fredrick Alexander Driend; her grandchildren, Kevin, Aaron and Olivia Driend and McKenzie Janes; her sister, Peggy (David) Black; her aunt and Godmother, Jean Janov as well as a host of extended family and friends.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  A memorial celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, October 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Warsaw.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
