Myrtle Smith Wright Burke

December 17, 1930 — July 23, 2019

Myrtle Smith Wright Burke, age 88, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Owenton Center, surrounded by her family.

Born December 17, 1930 in Owenton she was the daughter of the late Julius and Nellie Estes Smith. She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Robert "Bobby" Wright and Porter Burke as well as her son, Billy Wright, granddaughter Shelby Carol Hudnall, grandson Jeremy Clay Allnutt, son-in-law, Harold Osborne, and daughter-in-law, Carolene Wright.  Myrtle, known affectionately to many as "Mom-maw', loved spending time with her family and friends.  She enjoyed shopping and having her hair and nails done and especially loved country music. She was a member of the El Bethel Christian Church and worked for nearly 20 years as a cook at Owen County Memorial Hospital and New Horizons Medical Center.

She is survived by her children, Danny (Donna) Wright, Lanny (Jo Ann) Wright, Donald Wright, Gary (Tammy Mitchell) Wright, Debbie (Johnny Bob) Jump and Dana (Tom) Colligan; her grandchildren, Tasha, Lisa, Jr., Donnie, Tammy, Dawn, Brandon, Bob, Tootie, Jason, Jody, Vickie, Scott, Lana; thirty-two great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 4 - 8 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday with Bro. Rex Gibson presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the Owen County Children's Fund or Owenton Center Activities Fund.
