Myra Cooper Ayres

Myra cooper Ayres, age 98, of Owenton, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Owenton Center.

Born November 2, 1921, in Owen County she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Effie Lee Johnson Lawrence. She was the widow of Atwood Ayres and was preceded in death by her sons, Carroll David Ayres and Johnny Ayres.  Myra Cooper was a homemaker and the oldest living member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at the time of her passing. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and gardening.

She is survived by her son, Don (Sue) Ayres; her sister, Daisy Lee Harlow; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church
