Mildred Acree, age 88, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Owenton Manor. Born December 9, 1923 in Owen County she was the daughter of the late Walker and Clara Clifton Cook and the widow of Clifford Acree. Also preceding her in death were her son, Donald Scott; her siblings, Ed, Charlie, Jim and David Cook and Isabel House; as well as two grandchildren. Mrs. Acree was a homemaker, farmer and a seamstress at the Essex Factory and Fruit of the Loom. She was also a member of the Mussel Shoals Baptist Church. Surviving are her son James (Linda) Acree; four daughters, Rachel (Tommy) Sharp, Hope Colligan, Charlotte (Randy) Stephens and Penny (Ronnie Anderson) Carroll; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Thursday, from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30 at 1pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Owenton Manor Activities Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
