Michael Anthony Mertz

Michael Anthony Mertz, age 44, of Owenton passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

Born June 18, 1975 in Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late Charles L. Mertz and Mattie Dixon Stivers, who survives. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Tommy Dwayne Mertz. Michael enjoyed working on lawnmowers and derby cars, attending demolition derbies, camping and fishing and spending time with family.

Michael is survived by his mother, Mattie Stivers; his girlfriend and caregiver, Donna Winans; his siblings, Pamela Kay Crouch, Timothy Wayne Mertz, and Charles Edward Mertz; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; step children, Sasha (Richard) Smith, Joanna McElroy, Morgan Noel and six step grandchildren.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at the home of his brother on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 2pm.
