Michael Smith Keith, age 66, of Owenton passed away September 12, 2014 at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Born June 11, 1948, in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Hugh Scott Keith. Mike was retired from Farmers Bank as an Executive Vice President with 38 years of service. After his retirement he worked as a security guard for Perry Park. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and communing with nature. He was active for many years in the Country Rider Car club where he enjoyed showing his 1948 Chevrolet. He coached little league football in the 80s, was active in Friends of Football in the 90s and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Kathy Stewart Keith; his mother, Annette Smith Keith; his sons, Chris (Tabitha) Keith and Jamie Keith; his grandchildren, Casey, Logan, Willow, Tre, MacKenzie, Kaleb, Oskar and Trudy; his sister Sandy Small as well as several nieces and nephews. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 16th from 4-7pm at the Perry Park Community Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Wounded Warrior or a charity of choice.
