Mervin D. McAnally, 79, of Perry Park, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Born May 23, 1929, in the Perry Park community of Owen County, he was the son of the late Jesse Warren and Bertha R. Heightchew McAnally. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy and Herman McAnally. Mervin was a farmer, worked for the Owen County Water and Sewer Department for over 11 years, worked for the Owen County Road Department and also drove a sanitation truck. He was also a member of the Bluegrass Pulling Association and was a Kentucky Colonel. Mervin is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Beverly Webster McAnally; two nieces, Brenda (Rodney) Smith and Cathy Chappell; nephew David (Sharlene) McAnally; two great nieces, Jennifer Stewart and Mackinnon McAnally; great nephews, Nick Chappell and Cameron McAnally and great-great nephew Wyatt Traylor, all of Owenton. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Monday, April 13th, from 4-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or New Horizons Medical Center.
