Melvin Fitzgerald

Melvin Fitzgerald, age 77, of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.Born July 18, 1940, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Kellie and Beulah Smith Fitzgerald.  He was one of thirteen children and was preceded in death by his siblings, Albert, Curtis, Ruby, Claire, Frances, Marvin, Norvin, Buford, Goldie, and Ira. Melvin was a retired machinist at Bendix and a member of the El Bethel Christian Church.  He is survived by his wife Bonnie Osborne Fitzgerald; his children, Kim (Danny) Duvall, Shawna (Alfred) Arrowood, Vickie Fitzgerald, Chris (Barbara Grace)  Fitzgerald, Mike (Lashonda) Fitzgerald and Johnny (Meg) Fitzgerald; nine grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.  He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Jean Howard and Dorothy Wainscott.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Sunday, January 21, 2018, from 4 - 8 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday with Bro. Ron Swiger, Bro. Donnie Collings, and Bro. Keith Miller presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to God's Special Little Hearts in honor of Leah Kate or El Bethel Christian Church.
