Max Andrew Bourne

Max Andrew Bourne, age 85, of Owenton, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born August 31, 1925, in Owen County, he was the son of the late James B. and Mary Agnes Marston Bourne and the widower of Lois “June” Duvall Bourne. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Charles, Clifford, James, Kate Devore and Eilene Greybeal as well as his granddaughter Heather Bourne and special friend Jesse Lea. Max was retired from the Commonwealth of KY, in the Department of Transportation where he worked for the Highway Department. He served his country during WII in the US Navy and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Surviving are his sons, Ricky (Sharon) Bourne and Andy (Melinda) Bourne; his daughter, Becky (Red) Shryock; his brother Malone Bourne all of Owenton. Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Thursday, July 21 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier presiding. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
