Mary Rose Figgins

Mary Rose Figgins, born on May 12, 1952, in Fayette County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her son's home in Frankfort, Kentucky, on January 20, 2026.

Mary had a fulfilling career, dedicating many years to the Owen County Schools System, where she made a positive impact on the lives of many students. She was proud of her accomplishments and cherished the time she spent cooking and enjoying the companionship of dogs. In 1982, she made the joyous move to Monterey, where she continued to build her life and love for her community.

Mary is survived by her son, Michael "Che" (Judie) Powell; her daughters, Bande Windburn and Jillian Figgins; and her son, Jonathan (Jenny) Figgins. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Matt, Marlon, and Ilena. Her family includes siblings Iline Gray, James Gray, Carol Trujillo, Ginger Powell Parks, and Charlene Raisor.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Cash and Lillie Mae Owens Powell, who deeply influenced her life and values. She will be missed by all who knew her and remembered fondly for her warmth and kindness.

Private memorial services will be observed.
