Mary Frances Rose, age 93, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Gallatin Healthcare.
Born July 11, 1929, in Grant County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Lillian Morgan Steger and the widow of Robert Alan Rose. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Victor Steger. Mary was a devout member of First Baptist Church and taught 5th grade at Long Ridge School for several years. She also worked in the Owen County Sheriffs Office under Ed Giles administration and taught kindergarten overseas for a brief time. She was a co-owner and operator of Loose Leaf Antique Market. Mary, rarely seen without something pink and a little lipstick, loved a good adventure with family and friends and had fun wherever she went. She enjoyed helping others, going out to eat, and was a talented pianist. She took the most pride in being "Mamaw" to her legacy of grandchildren.
Mary will be missed by her daughters, Suzanne (Stuart) Bowling, Cindy (Steve) Wright, and Patty (Larry) Greene; her grandchildren, Craig (Holly) Bowling, Leigh (Dave) Hawkins, Adam (Amy) Greene, Lyndsi (Lucas) McNally, and Matthew (Brenna) Wright; her great-grandchildren, Danielle (Chad) Perkins, Adi & Aiden Bowling, Sam Banks, Nellie Hawkins, Emmalyn Greene, and Max and Miles McNally; her great-great-grandchildren, Case and Lane Perkins; her sister Patsy Wilson and sister in law Dolores Steger.
New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 11 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with the Honorable Steve Bates presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions are suggested to Owen County Children's Fund or Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice.
