Mary "Mammy" Frances Coleman Riddle, age 102, of Owen County, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Owenton Center. Born August 27, 1914, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Allie and Mattie Orsborne Coleman and the widow of Leonard Riddle. She was also preceded in death by her children, Dorothy Lee and Dean Riddle and her grandchildren Troy Riddle and Nick Riddle. She and Leonard were married sixty years and opened their home and their lives to over sixty foster children from 1953 until the 80's. Mammy was also devoted to her church, Cedar Hill Baptist and to the Owenton Manor where she was a cook for more than 17 years when her health forced her to retire in 1996. A few years later in 1999 she became a resident of the Owenton Manor and was the oldest resident.Mammy leaves behind a legacy in her family; her son, Charlie (Mitzie) Riddle; her grandchildren, Deanna (Tommy) Tackett, Donna (Al) Gomez, Brian (Niki) Riddle and Mitzy (Hugh Mulligan) Allnutt ; eight great grandchildren, Shane, Nolan, Emily, Alex, Andrea, Zachary, Cambron, River, Sara and Nicholas; over sixty foster children and all of her Owenton Manor friends and family.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Sunday, July 23, 2017, from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday with Bro. Jesse Bourne and Bro. Bill Allen presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the Owenton Manor Activities Fund or the Cedar Hill Building Fund.
