Mary Emily Jones

Mary Emily Jones, 96, formerly of Owenton passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011 at her residence in Independence. Born March 30, 1915 in New Liberty, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Cord Jenkins Livers . She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, William Thomas “Tommy” Jones; a very loving sister, Ida Ware and three brothers, Homer, James and Theodore Livers. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the New Liberty Second Baptist Church. Later in life, she moved to Owenton where she joined the Owenton Second Baptist Church, She was a very active member, singing in the choir, serving as Church Treasurer for many years and always ready to serve in any way she could. She was also a member of the Tri County Choral Union. Mary Emily did domestic work and was a very good cook. She and her husband retired from Owenton First Baptist where they worked as custodians for 34 years. Mary Emily leaves to celebrate her life, one loving son, William (Sarah) Jones of Hope, Indiana; one loving daughter, Georgia (Mitchell) Sanders of Independence; a loving sister, Lillian Thomas; five grandsons, Kevin Jones, Aaron (Delilah)Jones-Bey, Jonathan Sanders and Lamaar Jones-Bey; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, church family and friends. Mary Emily is also survived by Bill Ramsey of Germany, to whom she was a caregiver during his childhood and cherished friend in his adult life. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Second baptist Church, Owenton on Thursday, September, 15th from 11am - 1pm.
