Mary Agnes Gibson, was born on April 9, 1924, in Owen County. It is with deep sorrow that we announce her passing on September 28, 2025. Mary led a life of dedication and service, marked by her unwavering faith and commitment to her family and community.
A proud graduate of Owen County High School, Mary earned the distinction of valedictorian, an early testament to her intelligence and hard work. She went on to carve out a meaningful career, retiring after many years of dedicated service as a bookkeeper at Peoples Bank.
An ardent and faithful member of the Squiresville Baptist Church, Mary found strength and solace in her faith, which she imparted to her family and friends. Her commitment to her church community reflected her character, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her cherished family. She is survived by her devoted children, Janice Marston and Marshall Gibson, who carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. Mary was also a proud grandmother to Rebecca Marston, Elizabeth Marston, Cindy Beckham, Crystal Gibson, Sarah Gibson, and Addison Gibson, who knew her warmth and guidance. Further enriching her legacy are her great-grandsons, Collin and Logan Beckham, who will carry the tales of her life into future generations. Additionally, she leaves behind her great-great granddaughter, Calli Beckham, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Collins Gibson as well as her parents, Roy and Madie Minch, and her brothers, Roy, Charles, David, Gerald, and Vernon Minch. Together, they provided the foundations upon which her life was built – a steadfast structure of love, resilience, and integrity.
