Mary Frances Grisham

December 23, 1932 — May 1, 2023

Mary Frances Kyle Grisham joined the Lord early Monday morning on May 1, 2023.

She was born on December 23rd, 1932 to the late Truman and Flora Kyle of Wheatley Ky.

She was a graduate of New Liberty High School and attended classes at the University of Louisville.

She was married in October 1955 to the late James Alvin Grisham with whom she shared her life for 53 years. Mary worked as an executive secretary at General Electric before starting her family. In later years she worked as the postmaster at the Wheatley and Perry Park post offices where she always greeted her customers with a friendly smile.

Mary Frances was a dedicated servant of God. She was a member of the Dallasburg Baptist Church in Wheatley Ky where she served the Lord in many capacities. She was involved for 40 years in leading children ministries including training union, VBS, Mission Friends, GA’s, and Acteens. She was also active in WMU and was a co-teacher of her Sunday School class. She loved God with an unwavering faith and it showed in everything she touched. She reached out to those in her community and played the role of the welcome wagon, often cooking brownies and visiting them. She always made a point to invite them to church. Her most treasured role was that of a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a shining example for her family and all who crossed her path. She was always willing to play games with her children and carried on that tradition with her granddaughter, Alana.

She was very involved in the Owen County Homemakers. She held the office of President of the Wheatley homemakers. She and her homemaker club friends had many adventures over the years. She was active in the Garden Club as well. She loved her flowers and often entered them in the Owen County Fair, where she won several ribbons.

In her later years, she attended the Owen County Senior Center every day where she made more friends and joined in the activities. She loved playing cards with her group and taking trips with them. She always had a smile on her face and was full of laughter and love for others. To know Mary Frances was to love her. People were drawn to her. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and her friends.

She is survived and loved by her daughter, Karen (Steve) Thompson, and granddaughter, Alana; her son, Mike (Dede) Grisham, and family; her brother Paul (Gari) Kyle and nieces and nephews.

The celebration of her life will be held at the Dallasburg Baptist Church on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am with the funeral service to follow at 1 pm. A graveside service will be at the Wheatley Cemetery with Bro. Michael David officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Dallasburg Baptist Church.  Livestream available here .
