Mary R. Florey

Mrs. Mary R. Florey age 78 of Cincinnati and formerly of Elk Lake, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Drake Hospital Hospice Unit in Cincinnati. Born May 10, 1936 in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Johanna Niehoff Yuellig and the widow of both Arthur Schreckenhofer and Robert C. Florey. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Yuellig. Mary was retired from the Journal News of Hamilton, OH, where she was a police photographer and reporter working under the pseudonym Mary Arthur. She was a KY Colonel, a former Eastern Star member, a member of the Owenton First Baptist Church and also worked for the Springfield Township Police Department as a 911 Dispatcher. Surviving are her daughters, Traci Webb, Karen Hudak, Sandi Sumerfield and Melodie Stormann; her brother, Eugene Yuellig; her sister, Julia Maxson, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Sunday December 7th from Noon until 1pm. Memorial services will follow at 1pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested an unwrapped toy be brought to the service to be donated to families in need.
