Mary Belle Shirley

Mary Belle Shirley, age 95, of Owenton, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Owenton Center. Born March 25, 1920 in Owen County she was the daughter of the late Julius and Nellie Estes Smith and preceded in death by her children Thelma Jean Jones and June Marilyn Schadler, her brother and sister and four grandchildren. Ms. Shirley was a former nurse's aid and retired from Genesco Shoe Factory. She was a member of the Walton Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter Gladys (Billy Ray) Stewart; her son, Richard Allen Shirley; her sister, Myrtle Burke; her brother, Delano Smith; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 11am until 1pm. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
