Marvin E. Keith

Marvin E. Keith, 100, of Owenton passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Lexington. Born December 4, 1914 in the New Liberty Community of Owen County, he was the son of the late John Irvin and Roxie Lee Poland Keith. Also preceding him in death were his wife of over 36 years, Gladys Martin Keith in 1978 and his second wife, Helen Smoot Keith who passed in 2008; his grandson, Brian Keith Borchers and his siblings, Scott Keith, Emmett Keith, Shirley Hutton and Bill Keith. Marvin was a graduate of New Liberty High School and the oldest member of Owenton First Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was retired from Owen Electric with 40 years of service, the later part of those years as the Chief Executive Officer. He was active in his community serving on Owenton City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club and was a member of Owen Lodge #128 F&AM where he was a Thirty Second Degree Mason. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Johnson of Florence; his grandson, Robert J. (Brandy) Borchers, II of Lexington; his great granddaughters, Olivia Ellasyn and Georgia Grace Borchers and his sister, Ruth Furnish. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 11am until 1pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm with Bro. Brad Banks and Bro. Jesse Bourne presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owen County Children's Fund.
