Marion Lita Marshall

Marion Lita Marshall, age 86, of Owenton, peacefully passed away at her home on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Born on April 20, 1940, in Gratz, KY, Marion was the daughter of the late Foster and Christine Marion Powell. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Thomas Richard Marshall, whom she wed on December 28, 1960. An alumna of Thomas More College, Marion earned a degree in Elected Studies with a minor in psychology. Her career began in her father's grocery store and continued with the Owen County Rural Electric Cooperative. Later, she joined her husband in his dental practice in Carrollton as both a dental assistant and receptionist.

Marion's passion for music shone brightly from the age of ten when she began playing piano for Gratz Christian Church. A dedicated member of Owenton First Christian Church, she also served as assistant president of the Christian Women’s Club of Northern Kentucky. In her leisure, she enjoyed shopping, square dancing, and indulging in Cold Stone Creamery delights. An avid fan of Elvis, Marion's vibrant spirit touched many.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Melanie (Robbie) Swigert; her grandchildren, Lita Ann (Will) Newman, Richie Tristan Swigert, and Krissy (Jonathan) Locker; along with her five great-grandchildren: Cason, Waylon, Rylan, Gunnar, and Benson.

Visitation will be held at First Christian Church on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 1 - 3 pm, followed by funeral services at 3 pm with Bro. James Bondurant officiating. Marion will be laid to rest in Owenton Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to Owenton First Christian Church.
