Marie Luther Baker, 91 and a former resident of Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, August 18th, at the Green Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, Ky. Born August 28, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther and Ola Hammond. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Salin Baker Jr. and one sister, Christine McDonald. Together, Marie and her husband were well known for their optometry practice in Frankfort. They were also faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Frankfort. She is survived by one brother: Horace Luther (Shirley) of Owen County, four nephews: Martin Luther (Joan), Kevin Luther, Vernon E. McDonald (Audrey), Thomas McDonald (Donna) and one niece, Brenda Brown. Marie is also survived by a very special friend, Wanda Licklider. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 22nd, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes from 10am until 1pm. Funeral services will begin at 1pm. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Vernon E. McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Horace Luther, Martin Luther, Kevin Luther, and Don McDonald. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Alexander Luther.
