Margie England, age 90, of Wheatley, passed away Friday, December 3rd at her residence. Mrs. England was the widow of Harold England and was preceded in death by her daughter Betsy England and brothers, Charles and Elwood Smith. Born July 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lida Johnson Smith. She was the Co-founder and co-owner of Fairway Golf Course and a member of Dallasburg Baptist Church. She was a 1942 graduate of the University of KY and retired from teaching after 30 years of service. She was active in the Owen County Homemakers for many years, the Northern KY Council on Aging and was awarded the Owen Countian of the Year. She also served on the New Horizons Medical Foundation Board. Surviving are her son, Gilbert (Alice) England of Wheatley; two daughters, Susan (David) Fuller of Lexington and Margina (Eric) Grow of Richmond, VA; her brother, Granville Smith of Louisville; five grandchildren, Kenneth England, Allison England Burgess, McKaella, Colton and Logan Grow and three great grandchildren, Tucker, Clint and Kaileigh Burgess. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Sunday, December 5th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1pm with Bro. Matt Dye presiding. Burial will be in the Wheatley Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dallasburg Baptist Church.
