Manly "Sonny" Rider

Manly “Sonny” Edward Rider, 72 of Glencoe passed away on Tuesday at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. He was the son of the late Manly and Ida Mae Wever Rider. He was also preceded in death by his son; Thomas Rider and a sister; Roberta Kirk. He was the husband of Connie Lee Johnson Rider of Glencoe. Sonny was a heavy equipment operator, member of the Oakland Baptist Church. He was a Mason, and He was also a professional softball player for the Cincinnati Suds. He was a member of the softball Hall of Fame in Kentucky and Ohio. Besides his wife, He is survived by his two Sons; Michael Rider of Glencoe and Robert Rider of Cincinnati. Two Daughters; Terri Berger of Richwood and Tracy Hanser of Union. One Brother; Charles Rider. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5th at 1pm at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home in Warsaw. Visitation will be held on Saturday beginning at 10am. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
