Luther "Horsefly" Lankford

Luther “Horsefly” Lankford, 84, of Owenton, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born May 22, 1927, in Harlan, KY, he was the son of the late Ward Lankford and Victoria Nolan North. Horsefly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Surviving are is wife of 59 years, Christine Louise Cooper Lankford; two sons, James Bradley Lankford of Boone County and Larry Wayne Lankford of Owenton; his sister, Mandy Hensen of Covington; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, September 23rd, from Noon until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery.
