Lue Ree Hamilton Ball

Lue Ree Hamilton Ball, 87, of New Liberty, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Born June 4, 1930, at Eagle Station in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur Hamilton, Sr. and Cecil Lane Roberts Hamilton.   Lue Ree started her working career at the Avco Manufacturing plant in Carrollton, KY. She eventually traveled to Washington, D.C. and Indianapolis, IN, working as a secretary at the F.B.I. The love of the country brought her back to Owen County to farm with her dad while her brother, Robin, was serving in the military.   She married the late R.O. Ball, Jr. on June 24, 1955, at the Dallasburg Baptist Church in Wheatley, KY, settling with Junior on the Ball family farm on Ball Ridge Road in Owen County. She loved gardening, farming and deer hunting, in addition to spending time with her grandchildren. In 2000, Junior and Lue Ree received the Owen County Farm Family Pride Award from The Kentucky House of Representatives. Lue Ree was a member of the First Baptist Church in Owenton, KY.   She is survived by three children: Kimberly Lane Ball of Louisville; Jill Rae (Randolph) Wilson of Lexington; James Douglas (Marquita) Ball of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Rachel Ann Ball, Kendra Nicole Ball, Lenna Hamilton Wilson and Aleacia Santana-Perales Ball; two step-grandsons, Randolph Chamberlain Wilson, IV and Langston Alexander Wilson; and one brother Dallas Hamilton of Owenton. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.   In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Allen Eugene Hamilton, William Arthur Hamilton, Jr. and Robin Opel Hamilton.   Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 3 - 7 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier and Bro. Brad Banks officiating. Burial will be in the Wheatley Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Liberty Volunteer Fire Department or Bluegrass Hospice Care. <iframe id="tukios_player_512x330"
