Lucy Mae Jacobs

Lucy Mae Jacobs, age 97, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Owenton Center.

Born May 11, 1923, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Willie Judy Hankins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Jacobs and her siblings, Georgia Rose, Sybil Pierson, Fannie Whitton, William Howard Hankins, Helen Bourne, Freida Bourne and Judy Jones. Lucy was retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the Department of Revenue.  She was a devout member of Beech Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, church clerk, and the WMU for many years. She volunteered at the Owen County Clothing Center and enjoyed cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats during basketball games. Lucy was an avid traveler, stateside and abroad, navigating the globe as far as the Holy Land, Japan, and Alaska.

She is survived by her three sons, David Jacobs, Danny (Judy) Jacobs, and Ricky Jacobs; five grandchildren, Courtney (Barrett), Kyle, Lee Tyler, Christopher (Amanda), and Ashlee (Terry); her six great grandchildren, Ellie, Emery, Jeb, Austin, Laurel, and Rosalie; and her sister, Nancy Grisham.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends, for a pass-thru visitation, on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 5 - 8 pm at the Main Street location. Funeral services, with limited seating, will be held on Friday at 11am with Bro. Steve Delaney presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Beech Grove Baptist Church.
