Lou Ann Grugin Tupts, age 84, of Monterey, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 9, 2017.Born September 25, 1932, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the lateEstill and Minnie Claxon Grugin and the widow of Paynter Tupts. Lou Ann was a life long member of the Monterey Christian Church. She was devoted to her family and took great pride in taking care of them. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, visiting with friends and traveling. She especially enjoyed traveling to "The Boat" with her friend, Peggy Thomas. She took pleasure in working on the family farm and anything to do with her dad's tractor, mowing, raking and hauling hay, and running to get parts when something would break down. She also delighted in feeding every wandering soul who happened through her door at meal time.Lou Ann is survived by her son, Charles M. "Mike" Perry; her nephews and niece, Joel (Aneta) Grugin, Melinda (Bob) Poindexter and Brent (Rhonda) Grugin; her grandson's mother, Merrlene Nixon; her grandchildren, Chad Aaron Nixon, Joshua Snow, Joseph (Jess) Snow, Shelley (Scott) Fehkenbach, Lauren (Calvin) Dopps and Wesley Grugin; her great-grandson, Liam Michael Snow; her cousin, Rosemary Howard and her special friends, Peggy Thomas, Ginny Banks, Don Ellis, Donna Wainscott and Tracy (Steve) Carter.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am with Bro. Everett Hawkins and Bro. Chuck Waugaman presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Monterey Cemetery or Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice (formerly Hospice of the Bluegrass).
