Lou Alma Gaines

Lou Alma Gaines, 88, of Owenton, passed away Friday, October 24th, at the Harborside Healthcare Facility. Born October 22, 1920, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Myrtie Meecham Jones and was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Gaines, her son, Barton Gaines, her daughter Brenda Kemper and her grandson Jeff Taylor. Mrs. Gaines is survived by her daughter Louise Taylor of Owenton; seven grandchildren, Marcella Wright, Felechia Wainscott, Lucinda Janes, Darrell Kemper, Heather Gatewood, Tina Shryock and Glendane Taylor and 12 great grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Daulton and Zachary Taylor, Alden Gatewood, Josh Wright, Brian Howard, Ethan and Logan Kemper and Brad Shryock. Pall Bearers will be David Gatewood, David Wainscott, David Janes, Glendane Taylor, Darrell Kemper and Lawrence Wright. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location, Sunday, October 26th, from 5 -8pm. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11am at the funeral home with Bro. Kerry Dale Spencer presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
