Loretta Sue Byrd

Ms. Loretta Sue Byrd, age 72, of Owenton, passed way Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born August 3, 1952, in Owenton, she was the daughter of the late David Smith and Leona Smith Wilhoite. She had a lifelong passion for lawncare and gardening, always taking great pride in keeping her yard beautiful and welcoming. Over the years, she also enjoyed collecting antiques, coins, and an impressive assortment of Coca-Cola memorabilia, a collection that brought her so much joy. Some of our fondest memories are of her gathered around the table with family, playing poker, 500 rummy, and countless other card games that filled our hearts with laughter. She loved nothing more than relaxing on her Coca-Cola swing, chatting with family and neighbors, creating moments that will be cherished forever.

She will be missed by her children, Susan Bigelow and Richard Shimp; grandchildren, Alexander Shimp, Katelynn Ingle, Rhegan, Jozey, Gracie, Cooper, and Cohen Shimp; great-grandchildren, Harper and Andy Ingle, and brothers, Ray and Henry Smith.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, April 28 in the Owenton Cemetery.
