Lloyd Thomas Yancey

December 30, 1937 — August 17, 2021

Lloyd Thomas Yancey, age 83, of Crescent Springs, and formerly of the Poplar Grove community, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Born December 30, 1937, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Herschel and Christine Hayden Yancey. He was preceded in death by his brother C.W. Yancey. Mr. Yancey was a retired Assistant Plant Engineer Technician and a farmer. He was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church. Lloyd was happiest when he was on the farm in Poplar Grove where he enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was an incredible man who made a lasting impact on the lives he touched.   He modeled how to be compassionate, non-judgmental, and inclusive.  Lloyd always had a good joke. Those who knew him best knew he was just a "regular guy with a big heart."

He is survived by his wife, whom he married on October 17, 1959, Shelby Beach Yancey; his children, Lynda (Garry) Jackson and Thomas (Leanne) Yancey; his grandchildren, Brittney Howell, Mika Stevenson, Brandon Jackson, Jeff Jackson, Hayden Yancey, Blair Yancey, and Lauren Payton; nine great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Grace Yancey; and his lifelong friend, Don Hearn, who devotedly called him every afternoon.
