Linda Darlene Sawyer

Linda Darlene Sawyer, 79, of Owenton passed away December 7, 2024 in Florence. She was born in Lexington the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Sipple Oakes. She was a graduate of Owen County High School and a longtime employee of Saveway Supermarket. She was a cashier and worked in the deli making peoples days brighter by making great sandwiches and always having a smile. She was also a licensed beautician in her younger days. She loved reading mysteries and watching shows like CSI, Criminal Minds and documentaries. She mostly enjoyed her role as Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Pam Sawyer. Surviving are her son Shawn Sawyer, four grandchildren, Josh (Rachel) Sawyer, Joseph (Michelle) Sawyer, Cody (Sarah) Mount and Shelby (Johnathan) Rudde, nine great grandchildren, Daisy, Atlas, Jayden, Cameron, Liam, Lucas, Reese, Raya and Roric. Also surviving is her brother, Jan (Donna Sue) Oakes. A memorial service will be held on Monday December 16 at 1PM at the Seminary Street location of New Funeral Home with visitation starting at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
