Lewis Hornsby, of Owenton, passed away on January 13, 2025, at the age of 65.
Born June 29, 1959, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he was the son of the late Ronald and Marie Joseph Hornsby.
He was a good person who cared deeply for others. His playful nature and spot-on Scooby-Doo impersonations could bring a smile to anyone's face. A passionate fisherman, Lewis found peace by the water, casting a line, and being outdoors. Music was another love of his, and his life had the perfect soundtrack—blaring classic rock from Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, AC/DC, and Jimi Hendrix. Above all, Lewis loved his family. His daughters were his pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to remind them how much he loved them. He also had a deep love for animals, always showing kindness to every furry friend that crossed his path.
Lewis will be missed by his three daughters, Melissa (Trey) Powell, Amberlyn Hornsby, and Amanda Hornsby; three step-grandchildren; his niece and nephew; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A celebration of Lewis’s life will be held at a later date. In honor of his memory, the family encourages everyone to share their favorite jokes, turn up the volume on a great rock song, and always remember to find joy in the little things.
