Letha Jane Young

Letha Jane Duncan Young, age 90, of Owen County, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning while surrounded by her children, at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Care Center in Edgewood, KY.

She was born September 14, 1930, in the Sherman community of Grant County to the late John James and Nancy Ellen Howard Duncan. She was widowed by her husband, William E. "Bill" Young in April of 2011. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Stephanie and her siblings, Nellie Hawkins, Raymond Duncan, Lena Hunter, Susan Perkins, and Mattie Kincaid. Letha was a member of Canby Tabernacle and lived her life to serve God and others.  She retired from Community Action and made a ministry of loving and helping others.  She loved growing flowers and was also a talented artist and upholsterer.

Her gentle spirit will be missed by many, including her children, William (Barbara) Young, Jr., Jackie (Angel) Young, Robert (Linda) Young, Deborah Wood, and Tina (Todd) Woodyard; her fifteen grandchildren, Gretchen, Billy, Scotty, Misty, Jacob, Jonah, Miranda, Breanne, Adrian, Michael, Morgan, Brooke, Samantha, Grace, and Jasmine; twenty-two great-grandchildren; her niece and nephews she helped raise, Mary Jo, Mike, and John Brooks; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and extended family.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Services will be held at Monterey Baptist Church where family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, April 26, 2021, from 10 am until Noon.  Funeral services will follow at Noon with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Veteran's Cemetery North and memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice. Live stream available here.
