Lester Towles

Lester Towles, 87, passed away on July 16, 2024 at his home in Wheatley. He was born in Stamping Ground, KY the son of the late Edgar and Oma Poe Towles. He was also preceded by his son, Stanley and eleven siblings; his twin brother Leslie, Don, Walter, Edgar, Jerry, Larry, Flora, Mary, Lorena, Lucy and Pauline.

Lester was a lifelong farmer and also drove a school bus for several years. He was a member of the Dallasburg Baptist Church and Dallasburg Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fan of UK Basketball and got even more enjoyment attending Owen County sporting events. He could be seen on the front row of basketball games interjecting his opinion when necessary. One of his favorite things was golfing at Fairway and mowing the fairways. He was certainly one of those people that never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Jacobs Towles whom he married on December 5, 1959, his four daughters, Sallie (Craig) Sparks, Cindy Towles, Cheryl (David) Wright and Joy (Justin) Spencer, five grandchildren, Gabe and Nathanael Wright, Blaine, Liam and Magnolia Spencer, two sisters, Ann Wainscott and Nila Marksberry along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday July 20, 2024 at Dallasburg Baptist from 11 til 1 with the funeral starting at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Wheatley Cemetery and memorials may be made to Dallasburg Baptist Youth Group.
