Lenden D Stewart

Lenden D. Stewart, age 96, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY.

Born November 7, 1923, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Alton and Betty Stewart and was preceded in death by his infant sister Bernice Stewart and his brother Carl Stewart. He was a graduate of New Liberty High School, where he played basketball.  Lenden married the love of his life, Jessie Ruth Glore Stewart on January 26, 1945 and she preceded him in death in 2004.  He was a lifelong farmer, raising cattle and hay and was one of the oldest members of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He also worked for several years for the KY Department of Transportation in the Highway Department.

Lenden will be missed by his loyal caregiver, Bert (Connie) Combs of Owenton; his sister, Athelene (Bailey) Glore of Owenton; his brother, Rondell Stewart of West Chester, OH; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, September 17, 2020, from 5 - 8 pm. This will be a pass-through visitation with social distancing and masks required. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 2pm with Bro. Tom Hall presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Poplar Grove Baptist or Owen County Friends of Animals.
