Lela Wilson

Lela Wilson, 103, of Wheatley, died Sunday December 14, 2008 at her residence. Born August 12, 1905, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ollia Breeden Herald and was preceded in death by her husband, Norvin Wilson; her children, Donald Glenn Wilson and Norma Sue Perkins; her sister, Mable Stephenson and her grandson Steven Perkins. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a member of the Dallasburg Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Billy (Dixie) Wilson of Wheatley; two daughters, Brenda (Gerald) Powell of Owenton and Imogene (Chester) Kern of Memphis, TN; one brother, Ralph Muriel Herald of Worthville; one sister Pauline Suter of Wheatley; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren . Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location, Wednesday December 17th, from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, with Bro. Matt Dye officiating. Burial will be in the Squiresville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Dallasburg Baptist or New Liberty Fire Department.
