Lawrence Ray Hawkins

Mr. Lawrence Ray Hawkins, age 79, of Owenton, passed away Thursday, May 29th at his home. Born December 9, 1934, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Henry Morgan and Daisy Mae Lusby Hawkins. He was the widower of Mary Kathleen Perkins Hawkins and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Hubert William Hawkins, Henry Morgan Hawkins, Jr., Myrtle "Tootsie" True and Virginia Stewart. Mr. Hawkins was a retired farmer and a member of El Bethel Christian Church. Surviving are his sons, Larry Ray (Ann) Hawkins and Ricky Dale Hawkins; his sister Rosemary Gaines all of Owenton. Also surviving are two granddaughters Kathleen Hawkins and Arlene Hawkins Yager and two great grandchildren Mercedes and Alyssa Hawkins. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Monday, June 2nd from 1-3pm. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
