Lawrence R Harris

Lawrence Harris, age 87, of Jonesville, went to join God and his family and friends who preceded him in death, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Lawrence was the loving husband of Willena for sixty-seven years. Although they have only two children, Sherry (Mark) Meyers of Williamstown and Kim Harris of Jonesville, he was a father figure to many of their friends in the Jonesville area. Lawrence has four grandchildren, Tracey (Jon) Godsey, Tnger Hickman (Aaron Webster), Christoper Wright (Misty Brown), and Rachel Meyers who call him Papaw as do many of the children they grew up with. He also has eight great-grandchildren,  Audrey Wright, Corbin Wright, Steve Collin Wright, and Waylon Webster, Bryce Godsey, Bryanna Godsey, Abigail Richardson, Caleb Richardson, who also call him Papaw. Lawrence also has two sisters who call him Tub, they are Juanita Knutson and Dorothy (Johnny) Myers.

He was a longtime member and deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church and helped with the RA's at the church. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and the Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department.

He will be greeted at the pearly gates by his parents Manilus "Jody" and Laura Farris Harris; his brothers, Thomas "Bill" and Robert "Bob", and many other family members and friends. Finally, the Otter Brothers will be reunited as the fishers of men. And remember, he will be there to greet all of us when it's our time to reunite with him.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends for visitation at Macedonia Baptist Church, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10 am until 1 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Bro. Gene Hill and Bro. David Hammonds presiding.  Burial will be in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the church.
