Larry Gayle Cobb

Larry Gayle Cobb, age 80, of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 doing what he loved best, farming.

Born October 20, 1941, in Owenton, he was the son of the late Robert Harold "Speed" and Sue Ellis Cobb.  He was a member of the Lusby's Mill Baptist Church and a 1959 graduate of Owen County High School where he pitched the very first baseball game for the school. Larry was a member of the Owen Lodge 128 F & AM, where he rose to a 32 degree Mason and member of Scottish Rite. He enjoyed spending his mornings with friends at McDonald's where they played pitch.  His first job upon graduating was bookkeeper for Ashland Oil in Louisville. Larry served in the Army Reserves for 5 years and was distinguished as a rifle marksman. Larry was an avid Owen County Rebels fan. He attended most home games and even traveled to many away games.  He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. Larry loved crappie fishing and taking fishing trips, working crossword puzzles to keep his mind sharp, and, most recently, journaling for his grandsons.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 23 years, Judy Vannarsdall Cobb; his son, Robin (Marie) Cobb; his step children, Rodney (Amie) Kincaid and Kristi (Robby) Adkins; grandchildren, Grant and Lincoln Cobb, Connor, Mattie, & Kayla Kincaid, Blake Robertson, Autumn Collins, Mercy, Lavender, & Violet Adkins; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Heaven, Harmony, Essence, & Roman Robertson; his brother, Gary Lee (Paulette) Cobb; his nieces, Michelle & Lisa; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, September 26, 2022 from 5 - 8 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, with visitation after 10am.  Burial in the Owenton Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
