Larry W Adkins

Larry W. Adkins, age 78, of Owenton, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 8, 2021.

Born September 13, 1942, in Owen County, he was the son of the late George and James Gladys O'Banion Adkins. Larry dedicated much of his life to ministry, pastoring for over 31 years at Mt.Vernon Baptist Church. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed coonhunting, fishing, and beekeeping.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of over 53 years, Phillis Dunavent Adkins; his sons, Robby (Kristi) Adkins, Danny Adkins, and Michael Adkins; his brothers, Jerry (Patsy) Adkins and Dale (Linda) Adkins; his five grandchildren, Blake (Amy) Robertson, Autumn (Greg) Collins, Mercy, Lavender, and Violet Adkins; and his five great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Heaven, Harmony, Essence, and Roman.  Larry also leaves behind a host of extended family, church family, and friends.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Friday, February 12, 2021, from 4 - 8 pm for a pass-thru visitation.  Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday with burial in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
