Ken Hanson

Kenny "Ken" Edmon Hanson, age 87, of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY.

Born November 2, 1935, in Loretto, TN, he was the son of the late Pierce and Charlcie Adair Hanson. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandson, Raylan Wheeler and his siblings, Jackie Hanson and Peggy Reynolds. Ken served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was a lifelong farmer.  He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Owenton, where he served in many capacities including Sunday school teacher and Deacon. Ken was a talented basket weaver and participated in the Owen County Farm and Craft Market for more than fourteen years. He enjoyed carpentry and caning chairs, always raised a bountiful garden, and enjoyed being "Grandpa" to his legacy of grandchildren. He also never minded being doted on and spoiled by his wife of over 58 years, Mary Ann.

Ken will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Ann Smith Hanson; his sons, Joe (Cathy) Hanson, James (Hannah) Hanson, and John Paul (Melanie) Hanson; eleven grandchildren, Sarah (Brandon) Wheeler, Emily (Joel) Mullen, Mussie Hanson, Benjamin (Emma) Hanson, Molly (Cody) Rowland, Emma Hanson, Mary Grace Hanson, Samuel Hanson, Hannah Hanson, Luke Hanson, and Ella Hanson; great grandchildren, Ben, Rylie, Teagan, Jonah, and Myles; his sisters, Hilda Martin and Lounette Thompson; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends for visitation from 2 - 5 pm on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at First Baptist Church Owenton. A Life Celebration Service will follow at 5 pm with Bro. Brad Banks presiding. Private burial will be held on Monday in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Mission Board or First Baptist Church Owenton.
