Katie Swigert

Katie Charles Swigert, 93, of Owenton, died August 11, 2008, at Harborside Healthcare. Born May 15, 1915, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Nannie (Bourne) Swigert. Miss Swigert was a retired caregiver. She worked at the Bradford Square Nursing Home in Frankfort and also did private duty care in Frankfort. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Owenton, and former member of Memorial Baptist Church, Frankfort. Preceding her in death was a sister, Alice B. Williams, two brothers, Ora Swigert and Ernest Swigert, all of Owen County. She was also preceded in death by a niece, Kathryn Inman and her niece's husband, Dorman Inman, a nephew, Harold Lee Williams, and a great nephew, Richard W. Swigert. She is survived by her nephews and their wives: J.W. (Margie) Swigert, R.C. (Mary) Swigert, Robert Lee (Carolyn) Swigert, all of Owen County. Thirteen great nephews and nieces, 27great-great nephews and nieces, and 8 great-great-great nephews and nieces also survive. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes where family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Thursday from 10am -2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery.
