Kathleen Morgan Reed

April 16, 1921 — March 2, 2012

Kathleen Morgan Reed, age 90, of Owenton, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at the New Horizon Medical Center Kathleen went to be with her Lord and her heavenly loved ones after spending 90 years on this earth. She was a cosmetologist and beautician in her professional life and had many lifelong friends who enjoyed her quick wit. She was a member of the Dallasburg Baptist Church and the widow of Jimmy Reed. She was one of five children born to Arvon T. and Virginia Reeve Morgan. Her sisters, Margaret Ann Kemper and Mary Virginia Munster also preceded her. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Kay (Everett) Morgan Hawkins and Margo (Don) Karsner; Her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Amy (Scotty) Chappell, Hailey and Lilly; Abby (Andy) Alexander and Olivia; James Clark Karsner, Jayla and Clara; Sarah Kathleen (Jerry) Glander, Robert, Karson and Cooper; Rachael Karsner-Kyle, Jazmyne and Ava Jane; her brother, A.T. Morgan and sister Ruth Gray. Her trademark quick wit stayed with her until the very end. Kathleen will be remembered for her sense of humor, her positive attitude, her honesty and her unique way of ‘tellin’ it like it is’. A poem written in her honor, ends with a quote that she might have said her very last moments, “I’m young now…I gotta’ go”. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, March 5, from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Wheatley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dallasburg Baptist Church.
