Kae Crenshaw, age 82, of Owenton, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
Born April 19, 1938, in Mt. Olivet, KY, she was the daughter of the late William T. and June Mallory Redding McConnell. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert McConnell. Kae was a lifelong learner, receiving her bachelor of science in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University and her Masters of Counseling from the University of Louisville. She served the Owen County community for over 30 years, part of that time as a teacher and counselor at Maurice Bowling Middle School. After retirement, she went on to be a drug and alcohol counselor for REACH and also individuals. She served on the Board of Directors for the Owen County Children's Fund; was past president of the Owen County Library Board of Trustees; past president of Elk Lake Property Owners Association; alumni of Owen County Leadership; past member of Owen County Chamber of Commerce; past Secretary of Hope's Hands. She is a current member of the Memory Makers Homemakers Club, the Owen County Board of Education, and the REACH Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and had attended New Castle Christian Church.
Kae will be missed by her children, June (Jeffrey) Daugherty, Christi (Troy) Scott and Teddy (Ida) Crenshaw; her grandchildren, Robert Daugherty, Daniel (Taylor) Daugherty, Mallory Daugherty, Christina Daugherty, Katherine Scott, Elizabeth Scott, Shane Scott, and Crystal Crenshaw; her great-grandson, Nehemiah; her siblings, Linda (Vernon) O'Dell, Bill (Nancy) McConnell, Elizabeth Browning, and Willie McConnell.
McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of local arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location for a pass-thru visitation on Friday, July 3, 2020, from 4 - 8 pm. Masks and social distancing are required for visitation. A visitation and funeral service will also be held at Prewitt's Funeral Home in New Castle on Sunday. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Owen County Children's Fund.
